WCC Sport Development Programme 2024
The Wellington City Council Sport Development Programme is designed to empower young Wellington athletes to actively pursue their goals in sport and in life.
Guided by the Balance is Better principles, this programme focuses on the holistic development of teenage/rangatahi athletes. It is founded on the belief that the diversity of experiences and opportunities participants are exposed to will form beliefs that will influence their performance in sport and in life.
The WCC Programme has been running in partnership with Nuku Ora since 2007 and has helped numerous young athletes on their path to future successes.
INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The selected athletes initially work together with "Raise My Game" to complete an Individual Performance Plan (IPP) for 2024 and beyond.
Based on feedback from these sessions, Nuku Ora then works with facilitators to provide in-person group sessions on the following areas:
- Mental Skills
- Health & Wellbeing
- Sports Nutrition
- Strength & Conditioning (as required)
Alongside support for the athlete, Nuku Ora also holds a Parents Workshop to provide support for those supporting the athletes.
