Equity isn't a nice-to-have; it's a must-have, and everyone can play their part in making positive changes. By focusing on three outcomes aligned with the Sport NZ Women and Girls strategy: leadership, participation, value, and visibility, we will enable an equitable and inclusive sport and recreation culture for Aotearoa and a system that empowers and supports all women and girls as active participants, athletes, and leaders.
Nuku Ora vision
Our regional collective efforts can achieve this by working better together to create equity across three priority areas: Leadership, participation, value and visibility.
Nuku Ora is working to influence change in these areas in the following ways:
- Supporting women in governance
- Facilitating workshops on topics such as female coaching and physiology
- Sharing opportunities and promoting women & girls through our social media
- Advocating for diversity & equity among our local partners (including councils, RSOs, schools, and other community organisations)
- Capturing the voice of our kōhine and other women & girls related insights
- Nuku Ora is a member of the national Hine Manawa Rau Network driven by WISPA where we collaborate on women & girls initiatives and share insights for greater impact.
