Strategy 2032 is a 12-year strategic plan that emphasises equitable and quality opportunities for all. This strategy enables Nuku Ora to bring our purpose to life so that everyone has the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of physical activity – whether that’s through active recreation, sport, play, or ngā taonga tākaro.
Our 12-year strategic outcome for this plan is to ‘improve the hauora and wellbeing of individuals, whānau, and communities through increased physical activity.’ Our primary focus is to increase levels of physical activity across the rohe, ensuring that everyone can participate and enjoy being active.
We are breaking the 12-year time frame into four-year blocks of work so we can be responsive to change and achieve the best outcomes for the rohe. This approach allows us to establish and re-establish our priorities for each four-year block.
Our strategy is about creating change by prioritising the needs of communities, ensuring there are options available to everyone, and focusing on the changes that will make the greatest difference for people across the rohe.
Between 2020-2024 our priorities were:
- Less active people, more active
- Opportunities to be active better meet the needs of participants
- A connected and effective regional physical activity system
Between 2024-2028 our priorities are:
- Empowered communities
- Quality opportunities and experiences
- A robust and responsive physical activity system
- Nuku Ora – a Te Tiriti-honouring organisation
- Nuku Ora – a sustainable organisation
